What is the Demerit Scheme?

The Runner Demerit Scheme is a program introduced by Go People to encourage better and more responsible Runners. Demerit points provide a strong motivation to learn the Runner Knowledge Base, follow Sender’s delivery guidelines and become a better Runner.

A ‘merit’ is something that you do well, so a ‘demerit’ is something that you do bad. A ‘demerit point’ is a point that is taken away from you for doing something bad.

How does it work?

  • Every Runner starts off with 12 demerit points.
  • When a Runner does something listed on the Demerit Offences list, they lose points (so if you don’t show up to Job or Shift, you would lose 6 points).
  • The offence and points lost are recorded on your Runner profile (on the Runners’ App).
  • When you have lost all your points (you get down to 0 points), you are suspended from working with Go People for 2 months.

FAQs

Q: If I lose points can I appeal?
If you feel you don’t deserve the offence send an email to support@gopeople.com.au explaining why you believe it’s unfair and provide as much detail and evidence as possible.
We investigate each offence and if it is deemed you were not at fault we may return your lost points to you.

Q: Can I get my points back after I lose them?
Yes. You will get your points back, 12 months after losing them. So if you lose 3 points in June 2018, you will get those 3 points back in June 2019.

Q: Will I automatically be deducted demerit points?
No. Go People will look at the situation before taking points away.

Q: Will I lose points if a job is on Dispute?
If the Dispute carries a demerit point offence you will lose points. However if a job is on dispute for a reason not listed as a demerit point offence you will not lose any demerit points

Q: If my car breaks down, but I have a mechanical invoice, will Go People look at the invoice before deducting points?
Yes. If this happens to you, please send it to support@gopeople.com.au within 2 business days for us to make a review.

Q: If I’m sick, but I get a note from my doctor, will Go People look at the note before deducting points?
Yes. If this happens to you, please send it to support@gopeople.com.au within 2 business days for us to make a review.

Q: What is defined as a late pick-up?
If you arrive for a Shift more than 10 minutes after it starts it is classified as late.  So if the Shift starts at 12pm, but you arrive at 12:11pm, you will lose points.
